3 Apr – Sam Raimi recently denied rumours that he is currently working on a fourth "Spider-Man" movie that stars his choice of Peter Parker, Tobey Maguire. In a recent interview with CBR, Raimi, who helmed the three Maguire-starring "Spider-Man" movies in the 2000s, said that he hadn't even heard about that yet. "I did read that, but I'm not actually working on it yet. I mean, Marvel and Columbia are so successful with current Spider-Man [movies], and the track there, and I don't know that they're going to go back to me, and say, 'Well, folks, we can also tell that story!'" he said.
Raimi also said that he loves all the Spider-Man iterations that came after his version, including the new ones starring Tom Holland. "I loved Spider-Man: No Way Home. It was really, super powerful seeing Tobey [Maguire] again in it," he said. It is noted that Raimi's 2002 "Spider-Man" movie was a big hit, spawning two sequels released in 2004 and 2007. The director later returned to the Marvel universe in 2022 to helm "Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness". In a previous interview, he expressed his admiration for Maguire and his co-star Kirsten Dunst and hopes to work with them again in the future.
