"Takluk: Lahad Datu" is a film for our country's heroes

"Takluk: Lahad Datu" represents our heroes
22 Aug - The Lahad Datu invasion crisis that rocked Malaysia back in 2013 had a huge impact on its citizens. Inspired by the true events of the 2013 Lahad Datu standoff, the story is told through the movie "Takluk: Lahad Datu" - the core representing the bravery of our heroes that fought to defend our country.

It was during the press conference and screening of "Takluk: Lahad Datu" at GSC Mid Valley Megamall, Kuala Lumpur, late last week, that director Zulkarnain Azhar shared with the media that he was very fortunate because the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) and the Department of Internal Security and Public Order (KDNKA) gave their full cooperation throughout the process of the film production.

"We are very lucky because of the cooperation from PDRM and KDNKA to make this film a success. As usual we have to go through all the preparations they set, such as presenting the idea to the PDRM until it is agreed by all parties."

"Alhamdulillah, everything went smoothly. This is not the first film that requires me to work with a uniformed unit so I think the process is more or less the same. It does take time. As civilians, there are many things we do not know. The title of this film was inspired from the book "Lahad Datu: March 2013". In addition, I also included the information of the book in the script of this film."

"At the same time, we had to fictionalise it, because this film is an inspiration, not based on a true story. This film is a tribute to the heroes who fought for our country," Zulkarnain further explained.

The director added that this film is not produced to glorify the actions of the invaders, but rather to appreciate the sacrifices of the heros in their fight against terrorists.
