28 Oct - "Venom: The Last Dance" has topped the US box office after a three-day opening, though it is not something much to be celebrated.

The movie, which is the third and final film in the Sony Pictures' Marvel antihero franchise, did not manage to reach the projected USD 65 million, and accumulated only USD 51 million following its premiere. However, seeing that it is a slow week for Hollywood movies, the film still managed to bag the first place.

It is noted that the three-day opening number for "The Last Dance" in the US is the weakest among the three films, after "Venom" (2018) made USD 80 million, while its 2021 sequel, "Let There Be Carnage" made USD 90 million.

However, the movie did much better internationally, earning USD 124 million, bringing a global cume of USD 175 million.

Meanwhile, "Smile 2" has now dropped to second place after a great start last week, though it was able to add USD 9.4 million, bringing a total gross of USD 41 million in the US.

"Smile 2" can keep on grinning as it adds another USD 9.4 million
