16 Jun - Gary Oldman and David Beckham were some of the big names who were knighted by King Charles III in his birthday honours.

Speaking about the honour, Oldman, who will now be known as Sir Gary Oldman, stated that he is filled with "indescribable humility and pride" to be included in the "long lineage of extraordinary actors, artistes, and others" who hold the same title.

"It is emotional, humbling and flattering all at the same time to be recognised amongst them," he added.

It will take a little while for the news to sink in but I'm immensely proud and it's such an emotional moment for me to share with my family."

It is noted that Beckham was appointed an officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) back in 2003.
