While it had been adapted several times before, the most famous adaptation of "Sense and Sensibility" was the 1995 version directed by Ang Lee, which stars Emma Thompson and Kate Winslet as the two sisters, who find themselves forced to seek financial security through marriage after finding themselves in destitution following their father's death.

An Indian version was also released in 2000, starring Tabu and Aishwarya Rai as the Dashwood sisters.
