4 Jul – Jason Teo, son of renowned producer Datuk David Teo, is making his mark in the Malaysian film industry with his debut production "Citra Apartment" – a unique blend of timeloop and horror that's breaking new ground locally. The young producer saw an opportunity in Malaysia's film landscape when he noticed the absence of timeloop genre films. "I don't see any other producers in Malaysia taking up this genre, so I seized the opportunity," Jason explained during the film's premiere at GSC IOI Mall Damansara on Tuesday. Understanding that the timeloop concept needed an extra hook, Jason cleverly injected horror elements to amplify the audience appeal. "Since this genre cannot move on its own, I added horror elements to make the film more engaging," he shared.
Jason expressed his satisfaction with director Amor Rizan's work and praised the dedication of his fresh-faced cast. "This is my first film, and I deliberately chose new actors as the main stars. I'm confident they all gave their best," he said. The success of "Citra Apartment" has motivated Jason and his team to commit to producing more quality films moving forward. The film follows a group of college students planning a photography session in an abandoned apartment, but their creative project quickly turns into a nightmare when they become trapped in a terrifying time warp, forced to relive their own deaths repeatedly. "Citra Apartment" stars actress Elisya Sandha alongside promising newcomers Hanna Halim, Ooi Liang Chia, and Razdan Shamsudin. The film has been playing in cinemas nationwide since 3 July.
