4 Jun - After having fans requesting for a sequel for the past seven years, Dhanush recently announced that "Vada Chennai 2" will begin filming next year.

Sharing the good news at the audio launch of his upcoming film, "Kubera", the actor addressed the constant questions he received from fans about his hit 2018 movie, and said, "You have been asking for this since 2018, right? Next year."

The clip also showed fans cheering loudly following the announcement, revealing the excitement and anticipation from fans of the original.

Prior to Dhanush's announcement, director Vetrimaaran had also confirmed that production of "Vada Chennai 2", saying that production will begin after he wraps up Suriya's "Vaadivaasal".

It is noted that Dhanush has several projects in the pipeline, including his 56th film, an Ilaiyaraaja biopic, co-starring Mari Selvaraj, as well as a Hindi biopic about Abdul Kalam from Om Raut.

The 2018 "Vada Chennai" revolves around a proficient carrom player, who sets foot in the world of crime and joins forces with local gangsters to settle their feuds. However, he decides to take them down when they plan to wipe out his locality.
