5 Jun - It was revealed that Disney has dismissed more employees recently following its last layoffs that happened back in March.

A spokesperson confirmed this on 2 June, stating that, "As our industry transforms at a rapid pace, we continue to evaluate ways to efficiently manage our businesses while fueling the state-of-the-art creativity and innovation that consumers value and expect from Disney."

"As part of this ongoing work, we have identified opportunities to operate more efficiently and are eliminating a limited number of positions today."

Despite saying it was "a limited number", Disney declined to confirm the exact number of employees who have been fired, though stressed that the approach has been "surgical".

The spokesperson also indicated the cuts will be across several of the entertainment giant's units, including film and television marketing and even corporate financial operations.

Back in March, Disney, which owned a slew of companies including Marvel, Hulu, and ESPN, dismissed 200 employees across its TV networks including ABC. The company also had a massive layoff in April 2023, when 7,000 positions had been cut.
