"Ejen Ali the Movie 2" is now the highest grossing animated movie in Malaysia

18 Jun - "Ejen Ali The Movie 2" (EATM 2) continues to break records as it is now holding the record of being the highest grossing local animated feature of all time.

The new record was made recently, as the movie added another RM5 million this week to a total of RM55.1 million, surpassing all local and international animated works that have ever been screened in local cinemas.

According to Usamah Zaid Yasin, the film's director, the success indirectly proves the confidence and extraordinary support of Malaysian audiences towards animated films that are based on local identity.

"This success does not belong to WAU Animation alone but to all the 'agents' who believed in and stood with us from the beginning," he enthused. "I really appreciate the dedication of the entire WAU Animation team who have poured their energy and creativity into making this film a success."

Meanwhile, Media Prima Television Network and Primeworks Studios' Nini Yusof said, "This achievement is the result of collaboration, trust and shared passion. We hope that viewers will continue to support EATM2 and help us reach our next collection target of RM60 million."

It is noted that Usamah previously targeted RM60 million for the movie, meaning that the animated flick only needed another RM4.9 million to reach the target.
