12 Sep - Following the news of Giorgio Armani's passing, Italian producer Andrea Iervolino announced that a movie biopic has already been in the works for the late fashion giant.

Iervolino, most known for "Ferrari" and "Lamborghini: The Man Behind the Legend", released a statement, saying that the project has been in development for several months now, which serves to pay tribute to one of the greatest innovators of international fashion.

"The passing of Gianni Armani has once again brought to the forefront the profound value and meaning that the Armani name represents for Italy and for the world," the producer said.

"We all know the Armani brand, but we don't always truly know the man Giorgio Armani: his story, the sacrifices, the vision that made possible an Italian dream recognised everywhere. As an Italian, I feel a duty to honour someone who elevated the name of our country so highly."

It was reported that the biopic is being written by Bobby Moresco of "Crash" fame. The writer is also directing Iervolino's new production of "Maserati: The Brothers", starring Al Pacino and Anthony Hopkins among others.

Armani passed away on 4 September due to liver failure. He was 91.
