Let's celebrate Merdeka with Malaysian movies

21 Aug - Golden Screen Cinemas (GSC) is set to honour its Malaysian heritage through a series of vibrant experiences themed "Legasi Kita, Jiwa Membara".

From 14 August to 30 September 2025, the campaign will roll out across GSC locations nationwide, including Aurum Theatre and Velvet Cinemas by GSC and F&B establishments - Hokkaido Table Restaurant, Kissa Cafe and Diner, Velvet Restaurant and Bar and JIN Gastrobar.

Celebrate Merdeka with unforgettable entertainment experiences, from action-packed local films like "Legasi: Bomba The Movie" and "Magik Rompak", to on-ground experiences, F&B offerings with a local twist, exclusive GSC rewards and commemorative merchandise up for grabs - all in the spirit of "Legasi Kita, Jiwa Membara."

Uniting Malaysians one bite at a time with limited-time local delights
There's no better way to pay homage to Malaysian heritage than through food that can be enjoyed at GSC locations nationwide and F&B establishments - Hokkaido Table Restaurant, Kissa Cafe and Diner, Velvet Restaurant and Bar and JIN Gastrobar.

GSC is bringing in local favourites such as Lekor which can be enjoyed whilst watching movies on the big screens at GSC and Aurum Theatre. Indulge in the range of fusion creations with a local twist available at GSC's respective F&B establishments including Chicken Satay Burger, Spaghetti Bunga Kantan, Nasi Lemak with Ayam Berempah and sweet treats including durian cheesecake, coconut milk French toast and onde-onde latte.

A nod to homegrown brands, GSC has collaborated with Inside Scoop to launch an exclusive ice cream flavour for the Merdeka festivities - a delightful caramel popcorn flavoured ice cream topped with GSC's signature caramel popcorn.

Everyone's favourite nostalgic snack - Lekor is available at all GSC locations in West Malaysia (priced at RM13 ala carte / RM16 for a combo set) and Aurum Theatre (priced at RM15). The exclusive GSC Caramel Popcorn ice cream in collaboration with Inside Scoop is available at all Inside Scoop outlets nationwide

#SapotLokal with a thrilling slate of local action-packed titles!
This Merdeka month, an exciting line-up of local action-packed titles including "Legasi: Bomba the Movie" (21 August) and "Magik Rompak" (11 September) await you on the big screens at GSC locations with exclusive promotions and merchandise. Taking Merdeka celebrations to the next level, GSC will be unveiling its very own movie-themed popcorn boxes, commemorating the aforementioned titles.

Showcasing Malaysia's Spirit through homegrown collaboration with local fashion brand Ang Eng
As part of an on-ground collaboration at Aurum Theatre, The Exchange TRX, GSC has collaborated with local brand Ang Eng to showcase Merdeka-themed kebayas in celebration of Malaysia's rich cultural heritage. In conjunction with Ang Eng's 70th anniversary, and in tribute to Malaysian films and culture, three of the kebayas in the collection are inspired by local movies - "Legasi: Bomba the Movie", "Magik Rompak" and GSC itself.

The main showcase will run from 16 August to 30 September at Aurum Theatre, The Exchange TRX whilst other highlights will be showcased at Velvet Cinemas, Sunway 163 Mall KL and Aurum Theatre, The Gardens Mall KL.
