11 Jun - Jonathan Daviss has been cast to play Snoop Dogg in the upcoming Universal Pictures biopic, which has yet to reveal its title.

The actor, known for his role as Pope Heyward in the Netflix series, "Outer Banks", recently shared the good news on social media, captioning it with Snoop's trademark, "Bow wow wow."

To be produced by Snoop himself as well as Brian Grazer and Death Row Pictures president Sara Ramaker, the upcoming film will be helmed by "Hustle & Flow" director Craig Brewer.

The upcoming film will tell the story of Calvin Broadus Jr. as he enters the West Coast hip hop scene using the moniker Snoop Doggy Dog.

The movie will be Universal's third film about hip hop icons following the Eminem-starrer, "8 Mile" and the N.W.A film, "Straight Outta Compton".
