"Mortal Kombat" team confirms movie number 3

13 Oct - While the second instalment of the new "Mortal Kombat" has yet to be released, it was reported that New Line and Warner Bros. have already greenlighted the third movie.

The news was shared at the New York Comic Con on 11 October, with Jeremy Slater revealing that he will return as the screenwriter for the movie.

"Our friends at New Line and Warner Bros. are so happy and excited with this movie," Slater said. "They are so convinced that there is a giant fanbase waiting for it that they already hired me to start writing the next installment of 'Mortal Kombat.'"

Also attending the Comic Con were actors Adeline Rudolph, Karl Urban, Martyn Ford, and director Simon McQuoid.

The sequel, which was earlier scheduled to be released on 24 October, will now be released on 15 May 2026. It will be a part of next year's summer launch.

The film features many returning characters like Lewis Tan as Cole Young, Hiroyuki Sanada as Scorpion, Jessica McNamee as Sonya Blade, Ludi Lin as Liu Kang, and Max Huang as Kung Lao. It also adds new characters including Kitana (Adeline Rudolph), Johnny Cage (Karl Urban), Jade (Tati Gabrielle) and Jerrod (Desmond Chiam).
