8 May - Malaysia's only television channel dedicated to movies and entertainment, "Enjoy TV5," will officially begin broadcasting this Saturday, 10 May through the MYTV digital television platform.

The launch ceremony and press conference for the TV5 'Free-to-Air Digital Movie Channel' took place earlier this week at DADI Cinema Pavilion Kuala Lumpur, with Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil officiating the event.

Fahmi revealed that his ministry is evaluating proposals to extend MYTV's broadcasting reach to the ASEAN level, currently working through several processes with the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC).

"I will continue to support MYTV and we are discussing ways to ensure MYTV can broadcast at the ASEAN level, just waiting for several processes from the MCMC," he stated. The minister also shared that Commercial Radio Malaysia (CRM) and the Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry (MITI) are planning to expand the MYTV application to Infotainment Head Units (IHU) for locally manufactured vehicles.

Additionally, Fahmi announced that the government has provided a one-year incentive for MYTV and TV5 to broadcast for three years after meeting conditions set by MCMC.

TV5 Founder and Chairman, Datin Yoko Chou and MYTV Group Executive Officer, Helmi Harith, were also present at the event. The ceremony concluded with an exclusive screening of "Alone," directed by Datin Yoko Chou, scheduled to air in conjunction with Father's Day this June.
