16 Jan - It is now official. Rajinikanth and director Nelson Dilipkumar will be reuniting for "Jailer 2".

The news was announced by the makers on 14 January with a grand announcement teaser on YouTube, which has Nelson and Anirudh discussing a new script when their discussion was interrupted by several men breaking into their place, getting shot and attacked at the same time.

As the two tried to hide while the men ran away, the gunman appeared and uncovered Nelson and Anirudh who were hiding behind a sheet. They then pointed their fingers towards the direction the goons went.

The gunman is then revealed to be Rajinikanth's character Muthuvel Pandian from the original "Jailer". Anirudh then turned to Nelson, saying, "This is phenomenal, Nelsa. Let's make this the sequel."

In a post on X, Nelson expressed, "Immensely happy to announce my next film #Jailer2 with the one and only #Superstar #Thalaivar @rajinikanth sir and with my favourite @sunpictures #Kalanithimaran sir and my dearest loving friend @anirudhofficial and thanks to my team."
