24 Apr - If Yash Raj Films thinks that announcing Ahaan Panday as one of the leads in their upcoming movie would be welcomed with open arms by a majority of the public, they seem to be extremely wrong.

On 22 April, the film company announced the news that Ahaan, who is the cousin of Ananya Panday and nephew of Bollywood actor Chunky Panday, will be making his Hindi film debut "Saiyaara" with actress Aneet Padda.

"[The movie] is set to release on 18 July 2025 in theatres worldwide. Presented by Aditya Chopra, directed by Mohit Suri and produced by Akshaye Widhani, Saiyaara is an intense love story that brings YRF and Mohit Suri together for the first time!" the studio stated.

The news was not received well at all by netizens, with one post with more than 400 likes wrote, "Do you guys even make movies for the audience? Or do you make movies just to launch another star kid????"

"YRF put a higher bid in recently conducted Nepo Auction beating Dharma in its own game," said another, referring to Karan Johar's Dharma Productions, which has been debuting star kids time and time again. This includes the latest, Ibrahim Ali Khan, who was slammed for his performance in "Nadaaniyan".

Meanwhile, others are elated for Aneet Padda being cast as the lead actress, with one posting, "Aneet Padda. That means the female lead is going to be a talented one. Saw her in BGDC and she was fantastic in it."
