Zach Cregger's "Resident Evil" will not be about Leon Kennedy

"Resident Evil" is coming back to settle the score
26 Sep - After being confirmed to helm the reboot of "Resident Evil", Zach Cregger recently revealed that he will be featuring original characters not from the source material.

The filmmaker, who spoke to Fangoria recently, shared that his version of the Capcom horror video game adaptation will be "obedient to the lore" but a different story altogether.

"I'm not going to tell Leon's story, because Leon's story is told in the games. ... I am the biggest worshiper of the games, so I'm telling a story that is a love letter to the games and follows the rules of the games," he said.

Leon, in this case, is Leon Kennedy, the character that was introduced in the 1998 video game, "Resident Evil 2".
