5 Feb - 22 years after she closed the curtain on Buffy, it was reported that Sarah Michelle Gellar might be wielding her trusty scythe soon for the sequel series of her popular show, "Buffy the Vampire Slayer".

Sources revealed that the actress is now in final talks to reprise her role as the iconic slayer in the currently untitled project, which is nearing a pilot order at Hulu.

However, Gellar will not be the lead in the project, which will focus on a new Slayer. Buffy, on the other hand, would be a recurring character in the series.

The upcoming project will be produced and written by Nora Zuckerman and Lila Zuckerman, with Chloe Zhao to direct and executive produce under her company, Book of Shadows.

The original series, created by Joss Whedon, premiered in March 1997 and starred Gellar as Buffy Summers, a young woman who was chosen by fate to battle evil forces and supernatural creatures under the guidance of her Watcher, Rupert Giles.

The series, which concluded its run in 2003, left an indelible mark on television history, earning both critical acclaim and a devoted following, and is frequently cited among the greatest television series ever produced.
