Singapore company gives paid holiday to Tamil staff to watch Rajinikanth's "Coolie"

13 Aug - A Singaporean company has gone viral recently, after it allowed its Tamil staff to have a paid holiday in celebration of the release of Rajinikanth's new movie, "Coolie".

In a circular dated 6 August that has made its round of the internet, a company called Farmer Constructions announced that the management has declared "paid holiday to Tamil workers" on 14 August and that they will "provide FDFS (first day first show) movie tickets and SGD 30 for FB expenses."

"This is an activity under worker's welfare and stress management," the notice added, signed by managing director Madwa Prasath.

However, it is noted that Farmer Constructions is not the only company that is doing so in Singapore. SB Mart convenience store has also announced that it will be closed on 14 August from 7am to 11.30am "Due to the release of the movie 'Coolie' starring Superstar Rajinikanth."

The movie, directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, stars the legendary actor as a mysterious man who stands up to a corrupt syndicate that exploits and abuses the coolies in a coastal port town.

The film co-stars Nagarjuna, Soubin Shahir, Shruti Haasan and Aamir Khan among others. It is set for release on 14 August
