Zach Cregger's "Weapons" tops US box office charts

12 Aug - In the battle between horror and comedy, it looks like the audience have decided that they love to be scared more, as Zach Cregger's "Weapons" has now beaten the competition.

The movie, which is Cregger's second outing following the success of "Barbarian", made USD 42.5 million in the US' three-day opening, which is USD 10 million ahead of expectation based on advanced ticket sales.

Overseas, the film made an impressive USD 27.5 million, for a global cume of USD 70 million.

"Freakier Friday" made USD 44.5 million in three days
Meanwhile, despite being defeated by "Weapons", Lindsay Lohan and Jamie Lee Curtis' "Freakier Friday" still did very well, earning USD 29 million at the US box office and USD 15.5 million internationally to a total of USD 44.5 million, putting the movie in the second spot.

On the other hand, "The Fantastic Four: First Steps" continues to fall down the box office list at third place with USD 15.5 million, with its current box office at USD 434 million.
