22 May - Chinese actress Zhao Yingzi was revealed to have been ejected from the red carpet of the 78th Cannes Film Festival for reportedly wearing a too-revealing dress. The actress, who arrived at the red carpet wearing a sheer embellished bodice that covered parts of her chest and torso paired with a silver cape that goes up to cover parts of her hair, reportedly was asked to leave by the organiser. However, others speculated that she was asked to leave the red carpet after spending too long posing for the camera.
The outfit was designed by JoliPoli Couture, which took to social media to describe the dress as a combination of "architectural silhouette and intricate beadwork, revealing a look that is bold, divine, unforgettable." It is noted that the festival's organiser had recently announce that there will be "no naked dressing" for decency reasons and no oversised outfits, in particular "those with a large train that hinder the proper flow of traffic of guests and complicate seating in the theatre".
The announcement came as a surprise to many seeing that it was revealed just a few days before the event started. Last year, actress Massiel Taveras sparked a controversy when she appeared at the festival wearing a dress with an extremely long train featuring an image of Jesus Christ wearing the crown of thorns.
