Anil Kapoor will be reprising his iconic role

6 Jan - Following reports that Anil Kapoor is buying the rights to his 2001 film, "Nayak," it was revealed that a sequel to the hit film is currently in the works.

Producer Deepak Mukut, who reportedly held the rights to the title, confirmed that he and Anil are jointly producing the sequel and that the actor will be reprising his role as Shivaji Rao.

"He and I are making the film together. It is too early to say anything about it since several discussions are going on," he said.

However, the producer is mum on other details regarding the cast, director and production schedule, only saying that the movie will begin filming once the script is finalised.

In another interview, Deepak said, "It is a legacy project. It's been almost 25 years. Every film has its own destiny. When the time comes, it happens. And we realised it is a good time to do it now."

The film, which also co-stars Rani Mukerji, was directed by S. Shankar, who also helmed the original Tamil film, "Mudhalvan".
