24 Feb - Anna Sawai recently expressed excitement at the chance to portray the complexity of Yoko Ono in the upcoming Sam Mendes' Beatles films.

The "Shogun" actress, who spoke to People in an interview recently, said that the story of Yoko Ono, the Japanese artiste who became both famous and infamous for her relationship with John Lennon, was inspirational to her.

Stressing that people don't really know the true person that Ono was, she expressed, "She's an incredible artiste. And also, she just was an independent woman and people didn't like that. They wanted John for themselves and she was an easy target."

"And I think it's very meaningful for me to be able to tell her story," she added.

Asked what about Ono that she loves the most, Sawai responded, "Just how bold she is. Oh my God, I love her. She's so cool."

The Beatles movie project is four separate biopics that will tell the story of the four Beatles members - John Lennon (played by Harris Dickinson), Paul McCartney (Paul Mescal), George Harrison (Joseph Quinn) and Ringo Starr (Barry Keoghan) through their own lenses.
