14 Sep - Malaysian filmmaker Arangkannal Raj's feature film, "Belang - The Silent Tigers," has been officially selected for the Toronto International Tamil Film Festival, marking a proud milestone for Malaysia's film industry.

The film is scheduled to be screened during the festival, which will take place from 25 to 27 September at York Cinemas in Richmond Hill, Canada.

Celebrating Tamil cinema and stories created by Tamil filmmakers from around the world, the festival provides an important international platform for diverse voices, cultures and creative perspectives. The inclusion of "Belang - The Silent Tigers" highlights the growing global recognition of Malaysian Tamil filmmakers and their ability to produce compelling stories for international audiences.

The selection of a Malaysian-produced feature film for this prestigious international festival is a significant achievement for its director, cast and production team. It also represents an encouraging moment for Malaysia's multicultural film landscape and independent filmmaking community.

By bringing together Tamil stories from different regions of the world, the Toronto International Tamil Film Festival promotes cultural exchange and strengthens the global presence of Tamil cinema. The official selection of "Belang - The Silent Tigers" is therefore a moment of celebration for the film's team, Malaysian cinema enthusiasts and supporters of homegrown creative talent.

Directed by Arangkannal Raj and produced by Blueye Productions, the movie is set to represent Malaysia proudly on the international festival stage.

The synopsis of the "Belang - The Silent Tigers" reads: In the bustling streets of Johor Bahru, Fahmi, a dedicated Muay Thai trainer, lives for his students. For him, the gym is not just a place of discipline and sweat-it is a sanctuary for underprivileged youth, giving them hope, strength, and dignity. His dream is to lead his young fighters to an international Muay Thai tournament, but financial constraints crush his ambitions. Struggling to keep the gym afloat, Fahmi is faced with the painful reality that his students' future may slip away before it even begins.
