"Dhruva Natchathiram" is finally heading to screens

5 May - After 13 years of struggles, it was revealed that Gautham Vasudev Menon's "Dhruva Natchathiram" is finally cleared for release.

Following the decision made by the Madras High Court on 30 April, the director's production house Ondranga Entertainment released a statement to announce the good news.

It stated, "Taking into consideration the substantial investment involved in the production of our film 'Dhruva Natchathiram,' as well as the livelihoods and the career of numerous individuals associated with the film, including artists, technicians, cast and crew, the Honourable High Court of Madras with Honourable Justice Mr. Senthilkumar Ramamoorthy presiding has directed that the film be released subject to certain safeguards to ensure that the interest of all stakeholders connected with the production of our film Dhruva Natchathiram are adequately protected."

"We are grateful to The honourable Justice who spent considerable time spread over a week bringing all stakeholders to the table, evolving a consensus among them and then passing the order to release the film. The film with music by Harris Jayaraj and starring Chiyaan Vikram is directed by Gautham Vasudev Menon with an estimated budget of Rs.80 Crores."

GVM finally gets to release his movie after 13 years

The film's production hell started over a decade ago, from production delays, funding issues and other situations hindering its development. It was further complicated by the COVID-19 pandemic, which dragged production to 2022 from its 2017 date.

The movie, starring Vikram in the lead, follows a covert operative who leads a team of elite professionals named "The Basement", with the intentions of taking down terrorist organisations secretly without being bound by law and order.
