Disney announces new "Cheetah Girls" movie

Disney brings back original stars for the new gen

10 Jul - Younger millennials would be happy to know that there will be another Cheetah Girls movie, courtesy of Disney.

On 8 July, the studio revealed that it is producing "Cheetah Girls: Next Gen" for the Disney Channel and Disney+, which will see the return of Raven-Symone and Adrienne Bailon as Galleria and Chanel, respectively.

Symone is also on board as executive producer alongside original trilogy producer Debra Martin Chase. It will be directed by Bille Woodruff ("Bridgerton").

No news as to whether Kiely Williams will return as Aqua, but Sabrina Bryan will reprise her role as Dorinda in a special appearance. In addition, Lynn Whitfield and Lori Alter will reprise their roles as Dorothea and Juanita.

"Cheetah Girls: Next Gen" will also feature a new cast of actresses, including Leah Sava Jeffries as Galleria's daughter Faith, Carmen Sanchez as Chanel's sister Dior, Kaileen Chang as Ruby, and Sophie Lennon as Brooklyn.

The official logline read, "The story picks up when Cheetah Girls Galleria (Symone) and Chanel (Bailon), alongside Galleria's daughter Faith (Jeffries) and her three friends, travel to Africa to volunteer at a wildlife sanctuary. Along the way, these four teen girls test their friendship, find their voice, and discover the true Cheetah spirit as they save the preserve and ultimately take the stage as the new Cheetah Girls."
