Ridley Scott's "Treasure Island" will star Hugh Jackman
24 Jul - It was revealed that Sony is currently in talks to land the upcoming Ridley Scott project, "Treasure Island".

The movie, which is an adaptation of the classic Robert Louis Stevenson novel, will star Hugh Jackman as the one-legged pirate Long John Silver.

Scott first announced the adaptation as his project in June, stating that he was blown away by the script written by Jack Thorne.

The novel, first published in 1883, tells the story of a young boy, Jim Hawkins, who uncovers the map to a legendary buried treasure, only to face the charismatic pirate, Long John Silver.

Prior to the Scott adaptation, an animated adaptation, "Treasure Planet" was helmed by John Musker and Ron Clements in 2002, with Joseph Gordon-Levitt voicing Jim Hawkins.

The adaptation came after "The Dog Stars," starring Jacob Elordi, Josh Brolin, Margaret Qualley, and Guy Pearce. The movie, which is set to be released late August, is also an adaptation of the 2012 novel of the same name by Peter Heller.
