15 May - Kirsten Dunst is elated to announce that she has started filming the sequel to the hit 2025 movie, "A Minecraft Movie."

On 13 May, the actress took to social media to post a photo of two director's chairs that bears the name of her and Jack Black's characters Steve and Alex, writing, "It has begun..."

It is noted that the movie has begun its principal photography in New Zealand.

Back in August 2025, the actress decided to try her luck by revealing that her kids love the original big screen adaptation of the video game and that she would like to be a part of a financially successful movie.

"Maybe I can just make a movie where I don't lose money?" she said.

In March this year, Dunst was announced to be a part of the film, playing the role of Alex in the sequel. Jason Momoa, Danielle Brooks, Matt Berry and Jennifer Coolidge are also returning, with Jared Hess helming the second film as well.

The original movie made USD 961.2 million at the box office from a USD 150 million budget.
