28 Jan - Lokesh Kanagaraj recently said that the reason for him departing from the new Kamal Haasan - Rajinikanth project was due to creative differences.

The filmmaker, who was originally hired to helm "Thalaivar 173," said that he had actually spent over a month developing a script for the two legends, before he found out that it was not something that they wanted.

Lokesh said that both Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan were more interested in doing a lighter film, seeing that they were filming action-heavy projects back-to-back now.

It is noted that Rajinikanth is set to return with "Jailer 2" while Kamal is working with the Anbariv duo.

"They were looking to change genre. Such lighthearted films are not my cup of tea, so I left the project," he said.

It is noted that director Sundar C has also departed from project. "Thalaivar 173" will now be directed by Cibi Chakaravarthi and produced by Kamal Haasan's company, Raaj Kamal Films International.
