9 Jul - Malaysia's Academy Award winner Tan Sri Michelle Yeoh returns to the Chinese-language big screen in "It's My Time," her first leading Chinese-language feature since winning the Academy Award for Best Actress.

Joining her is one of China's most acclaimed young actors, Liu Haoran, in a heart-warming and inspirational comedy-drama about courage, friendship and discovering new purpose at every stage of life.

Directed and co-written by Bai Xue and produced by acclaimed filmmaker Wen Muye, "It's My Time" also stars Sarina, Bai Ke, Han Tongsheng, Qi Xi and Liu Yang, with special appearances by Tian Yu, Huang Yao and Chen Halin.

Based on the remarkable true story of Zhao Wenying, a retired teacher from Zhejiang who became the fastest person over the age of 60 to solve a Magic Cube blindfolded, Michelle Yeoh stars as Zhao Yanhong, a spirited woman in her seventies who refuses to accept a quiet and predictable life in a nursing home. When she unexpectedly discovers her remarkable talent for solving Magic Cubes, she embarks on an extraordinary journey that challenges society's perceptions of ageing.

Along the way, she meets Wu Youwei (Liu Haoran), a former Magic Cube world champion whose once-promising career has stalled and who now runs a humble night market stall. Despite their contrasting personalities and generations, the unlikely duo gradually forms a unique mentor-student relationship, pushing one another to overcome setbacks and prepare for competitive tournaments that ultimately transform both their lives.

"I've never played a character quite like Zhao Yanhong before. She isn't someone trying to change her life overnight - she simply never stops being curious and never loses the courage to begin again," said Michelle about the character.

To prepare for the role, Michelle spent time observing elderly women in local markets, carefully studying their gestures, expressions and everyday interactions to bring authenticity and warmth to her performance.

The movie opens in Malaysian cinemas 23 July.
