4 May - Netflix has now decided that its upcoming "Narnia" movie is worthy enough for the big screen as has thus decided to give it a wide theatrical release.

The move, which is the first time ever for the streamer, will have the "Narnia" movie, directed by Greta Gerwig, releasing on 12 February 2027 in cinemas before hitting the streaming service on 2 April 2027.

The movie was originally set for a Thanksgiving Imax treatment before releasing on Christmas Day this year.

Gerwig's "Narnia" movie is an adaptation of CS Lewis' sixth book, "The Magician Nephew" and stars Emma Mackey, Cary Mulligan, Meryl Streep, Daniel Craig, as well as young actors David McKenna and Beatrice Campbell.

This means that the film will be facing competition from the Fanning sisters' "The Nightingale" and Judd Apatow's "The Comeback Kid".

It is noted that Netflix has released a handful of its films into theatres for a limited run before, but that the "Narnia" movie will be the biggest theatrical debut release for the streamer to date.
