13 May - Rumour has it that Ranveer Singh is now prepping up for one of the most ambitious projects of his life - adapting the Amish Tripathi fantasy novel, "The Immortals of Meluha".

It was reported that the actor has acquired the rights to the novel under his production company, Maa Kasam Film and that he is partnering up with Birla Studios to develop the project into a trilogy.

A source stated, "Ranveer has been passionate about bringing Meluha to the big screen for a long time now. The acquisition happened recently, and the project is now officially under development."

"The makers are approaching the franchise as a long-term cinematic universe and the plan is to tell the story over 3 films. The writing work has already begun, and the team is taking its time to crack the screenplay and world-building. The first part is expected to go on floors in 2028," the source added.

The fantasy novel, released in 2010, is set in the land of Meluha and starts with the arrival of the Shiva, who decides to help the Meluhans in their war against the Chandravanshis.

It is a part of the "Shiva Trilogy" that include "The Secret of Nagas" and "The Oath of the Vayuputras".
