Robert Carradine dies following mental health battle
24 Feb - Robert Carradine was revealed to have taken his life, after 20 years of battling mental health issue.

The news was revealed by his family in a statement that read, "It is with profound sadness that we must share that our beloved father, grandfather, uncle, and brother Robert Carradine has passed away."

"In a world that can feel so dark, Bobby was always a beacon on light to everyone around him. We are bereft at the loss of this beautiful soul and want to acknowledge Bobby's valiant struggle against his nearly two-decade battle with bipolar disorder. We hope his journey can shine a light and encourage addressing the stigma that attaches to mental illness," they added.

The family also expressed hope that the public will give them some privacy to grieve the loss.

The youngest son of actor John Carradine and a brother of David Carradine, Keith Carradine, and Disney Imagineer Christopher Carradine, Robert made his debut in John Wayne-starrer, "The Cowboys" in 1972.

His biggest success was playing Lewis Skolnick on "Revenge of the Nerds" among multiple film and TV works. He was also known to the Millennial generation as the father in "Lizzie McGuire".

He was 71.
