"Sinners" makes history with record-breaking 15 Oscar noms

23 Jan - The Michael B. Jordan-starrer "Sinners" recently became the movie with the highest Academy Awards nominations, topping previous records of 14 nominations.

The vampire horror is nominated in almost all the major categories including Best Picture, Best Director for Ryan Coogler, Best Supporting Actor and Actress for Delroy Lindo and Teyana Taylor, as well as Best Actor for Jordan himself.

Other categories including Best Original Screenplay, Best Original Song and Score, Best Costume, Best Make-up and Hairstyling, Best Production Design, Editing, Cinematography, Visual Effects, and Best Casting.

Director Ryan Coogler and lead actor Michael B. Jordan are both nominated

When asked about it, Jordan expressed, "It's really a testament to the film as a whole and all the pieces involved and the people that went to go see this movie and watched this film... For all of these pieces to be singled out and acknowledged and honoured with the nomination. it's something that's really hard to put into words right now."

Prior to "Sinners," the films with the most nominations are tied between 1950's "All About Eve," 1997's "Titanic" and 2016's "La La Land".
