"HAK: Tuntut Atau Tunduk" will be coming to cinemas later this year

22 May - Continuing its dedication to boundary-pushing stories, Astro Shaw presents its latest film, "HAK: Tuntut Atau Tunduk," a gripping action drama set amid today's harsh realities economic challenges, survival struggles, and tough choices when pushed to the limit.

Produced with Enotech Pictures, Pegasus Motion Pictures, Icon Pictures, and strategic partner Etika Sdn Bhd (brands 7UP and Mirinda), the film is in production and set for nationwide release. Directed by Ezrie Gazali ("Abah Saya Uncle Mike"), with a screenplay by Alfie Palermo ("One Cent Thief"), based on an original idea by Santharuban Thurai Sundaram.

The film features an acclaimed cast including Syafiq Kyle, Beto Kusyairy, Kodi Rasheed, Mimi Lana, Fadhli Masoot, Aziz M. Osman, Radhi Khalid, Rubini Sambanthan, El Umar Mokhtar, and Dato Fizz Fairuz. Notably, it marks the first on-screen collaboration between Syafiq Kyle and Beto Kusyairy, two of Malaysia's top actors.

Filmed across public markets and apartment communities in Klang Valley, "HAK: Tuntut Atau Tunduk" aims to deliver a raw, immersive experience rooted in the realities many Malaysians recognise.

Raja Jastina Raja Arshad, Executive Producer and Head of Astro Shaw, states, "What makes this project exciting is seeing Syafiq Kyle and Beto Kusyairy face off in an intense chase. Audiences will enjoy their chemistry alongside a strong cast and creative team led by Ezrie Gazali and Alfie Palermo."

Santharuban Thurai Sundaram, the story's creator, explains, "The idea was inspired by my observations of the evolving local business scene. While opportunities exist, not all are embraced by communities. Foreign workers have been filling these gaps and building successful ventures, which I want to highlight positively. I hope this film broadens perspectives on seizing opportunities and contributing to our economy."

"HAK: Tuntut Atau Tunduk" follows Hakim (Syafiq Kyle), an operations officer at a public market who, desperate to secure money before his first child's birth, exploits the community. His life turns dangerous when he finds a bag of cash, attracting ruthless pursuers. Can Hakim protect his loved ones before it's too late?
