18 Mar - Teyana Taylor recently slammed critics for accusing her of being "too enthusiastic" about Amy Madigan winning Best Supporting Actress at the 98th Academy Awards.

The actress, who was seen jumping out of her seat to applaud her fellow nominee, took to X to express her annoyance by the opinions about her, saying, "The world holds so much misery that miserable hearts forget the face of happiness. They grow comfortable being sore losers, so when they see real sportsmanship it unsettles them, like holy water touching a demon."

"Because clapping for someone else's victory requires something many people never learned... how to win with grace & pure joy, and how to lose with grace, chin up & dignity," she added.

Many took to the comments to support the actress, with one saying, "The ability to respect others' success and carry yourself with dignity, whether you win or lose, says a lot about a person's character. Not everyone understands that, but those who do stand out like Teyana knows."

Another posted, "You showed great class with how much you cheered for Amy! Congrats on that and your nomination!"

However, some still expressed scepticism over her enthusiasm, saying that Taylor seemed performative in her support for Madigan's win. Others accused her of making a narcissistic move by turning the attention towards her.
