14 Jan - It has not been a good month for Thalapathy Vijay, after it was revealed that even his 2016 movie, "Theri" has postponed its Pongal rerelease.

The news was confirmed by producer Kalaippuli S Thanu of V Creations via social media, saying, "As per the request from the producers of upcoming releases, we have decided to postpone the release of 'Theri'."

He later explained the reason to the media on 13 January in Chennai, saying that there are other films that are also targeting the same slot and that he was approached by the producers of these movies to postpone the said film.

It is noted that Vijay fans have been expressing their intention to watch "Theri" on the big screen again, after the actor's highly-anticipated swansong, "Jana Nayagan" was postponed indefinitely.

Other Tamil films that will be released in the festive window include "Vaa Vaathiyaar," "Thalaivar Thambi Thalaimayil," and "Draupadi 2".

First released in April 2016, the Atlee-helmed film is considered one of Vijay's most popular films. It was adapted multiple times including in Hindi, "Baby John," starring Varun Dhawan in the lead.
