17 Aug - Following the success of the second film, Disney recently revealed that "Zootopia 3" is now in the works.

In an announcement made at the D23 fan event on 14 August, Disney Animation head Jared Bush appeared on stage alongside Ginnifer Goodwin, who voiced the character Judy Hopps, as well as Ke Huy Quan, who played Gary De'Snake in the sequel.

"The bunny and the snake will be back!" said Goodwin.

Bush also revealed that the third movie will have a bird-centred storyline, with a lot of the franchise's fan-favourite characters returning.

The original 2016 movie made over USD 1 billion at the box office when it was released, and tells the story of the budding friendship between the optimistic bunny cop Judy Hopps and the sly red fox, Nick Wilde (Jason Bateman).

The second movie, which made USD 1.8 billion last year, had Judy Hopps and Nick Wilde on the twisting trail of a great mystery when Gary De'Snake arrives in Zootropolis and turns the animal metropolis upside down.

The movie is the highest-grossing Hollywood animation, second only to China's "Ne Zha 2".
