Japanese Film Festival returns to Malaysia with its 19th edition taking place from 7 September until 15 October 2023.
JFF runs in Klang Valley (GSC Mid Valley, GSC 1 Utama, GSC NU Sentral) from 7 to 13 September, Johor Bahru (GSC Paradigm Mall JB) from 14 to 17 September, Penang (GSC Gurney Plaza) from 21 to 24 September, Kuching (GSC CityONE Megamall) from 5 to 8 October, and Kota Kinabalu (GSC Suria Sabah) from 12 to 15 October.
JFF 2023 comprises of a total of 16 titles across genres like drama, documentary, romance, mystery and animation, immersing audiences in diverse aspects of Japanese culture.
Opening the curtains to this year's celebration is feature "Small, Slow but Steady" (2022), a cinematic masterpiece by acclaimed director MIYAKE Sho which will make a special appearance at the opening ceremony. Following his applauded “Ju-on: Origins” (2020) series on Netflix and "And Your Bird Can Sing" (2018) which can also be watched on JFF+ INDEPENDENT CINEMA website from now until 31 October.
