We all know how difficult it is for a man to take care of children. Robin Williams tried in "Mrs. Doubtfire" and Vin Diesel struggled in "The Pacifier". The latest candidate to take on the daunting job of being a male nanny is Martin Lawrence.

In "Big Momma's House 2", he reprises the role of FBI Agent Malcolm Turner a.k.a. Big Momma. After hearing about the death of his long time partner, he goes undercover against the orders of his supervisors. Once again donning the female rubber suit (with huge assets), a wig of golden locks and a size 20 thong, she applies for the job of a nanny at the Fullers, whose patriarch is somehow linked to the murder and a far more deadly disaster threatening national security.

He now not only has to take charge of the household's three dysfunctional children, he also has to deal with the suspicions of his pregnant wife, Sherry (Nia Long). As he gets closer and closer to solving the crime, he finds it harder to keep his cover and gets more emotionally attached to the kids that he's responsible for.

Similar to the first movie, "Big Momma's House 2" relies a lot on slapstick humour to keep us entertained. However, what the movie actually lacks is a strong solid storyline. Director John Whitesell could only manage to come up with an uninteresting and mediocre plot that seems to drag on monotonously with only the funny antics of Martin Lawrence here and there to keep viewers from falling asleep.

In addition, most of the movie's characters do not really stand out and the real villain doesn't really make such a big impact until very late into the movie. Even Emily Proctor of CSI Miami fame failed to impress as Mrs. Fuller, the woman who hired Big Momma as a nanny.

Credit must be given to Lawrence however, as he gives yet another superb performance as the tough Big Momma. Despite being under tons of latex in the rubber suit, he still manages to shake his booty and keep his "assets" intact at all times.

Sequels tend to do badly in the box office, and "Big Momma's House 2" is no exception. With a hint of a third instalment of the movie at the end of the show, one justs wonders how much more of Big Momma we can take.

Overall, it is a good movie to go for a laugh or two. For those who have yet to catch the first movie, this sequel would most probably appeal to you. For those who have, you are better off just sticking to the original.
