Watch this if you liked: “Dil Chata Hai”, “Saroja”, “Chennai 6000028”

Venkat Prabhu gave us the two hits "Chennai 6000028" and "Saroja" with simple, meaningful stories and without any big stars. He again tries his luck with "Goa". With a similar theme, the movie sets out to explore the changing relationships among today's youth generation and their exploration into a world with women.

Saamikannu (Premgi), Vinayagam (Jai) and Ramarajan (Vaibhav) are close friends who live in a remote village and spend all their time doing nothing. They travel to Madurai to meet their friend who now has married a foreign woman whom he met in Goa, saying that he would be leaving for London soon. This leads them to try their luck in Goa where they too plan to score white women and marry to settle abroad. In Goa, they come across Jack (Aravind) and Danny (Sampath), two gay guys who run a resort, whom later helps them in their mission and get them an image makeover. In the meantime, they also find their ladyloves in the form of Jesika (Melanie Marie) a foreigner in Goa, Roshini (Piaa) a hotel lounge singer and Suhasini (Sneha) a rich casino owner. The rest of story is about whether they achieve their goals and the twists and turns they come across in their mission of misadventures.

Sneha and Sampath's bold characters come as a surprise package, while Premji, Jai and Vaibhav have equal screen space to make us laugh with their spoof of several popular Tamil films and songs. Yuvan Shankar Raja's music is another interesting listen especially the theme song and 'Indu Vara' track. The setting of some songs took place in Langkawi Island and are very eye-catching and refreshing. On the downside, there seems to be lack of logic in a few scenes like how these friends gets accommodation, free alcohol everyday plus how they are romancing beautiful girls so easily.

This is Soundarya's (Rajinikanth's daughter) own project, one that takes the risk by deviating from regular Tamil film stuff and trying something different. But the film is nowhere near the director's earlier films which had a good script to deliver. If you want to unwind yourself with some bikini women and forget all logic, then "Goa" is your holiday destination.
