Watch this if you liked: “The Incredibles”, “How to Train Your Dragon”

From the creators of "Kung Fu Panda" and "How to Train Your Dragon", DreamWorks animation has outdone themselves again with "Megamind". While most of you might feel sceptical about the movie title, chew on this. The story tells about Megamind (Will Ferrel) and Metro Man (Brad Pitt), who were sent away from their respective home planets and landed in Metro City. Megamind being the outcast and never seems to fit in, decides to be the super villain and set its evil mind on taking over Metro City. One of his many evil plots involved kidnapping the news reporter Roxanne Ritchi (Tina Fey), but every attempt results in colossal failure since he is repetitively defeated by Metro Man, the guardian of the city.

With an unusual plot, Megamind "accidentally" kills Metro Man and is freed from his rival's shadow. He then proceeds to take over Metro City, but very soon grow tired of the situation since he lost his purpose to be evil. Out of a twisted fate he "accidentally" turns Roxanne's geeky cameraman Hal (Jonah Hill) into the new hero - Tighten, and tries to train him to be a superhero like Metro Man.

Unfortunately, Tighten succumbs to his freedom of abusing his new power and used it against Metro City and Roxanne, who keeps rejecting his romance invitation. Eventually, Megamind is forced to do good, together with his childhood minion (David Cross), for the very first time in his life.

Every character is likeable in this movie. Will Ferrell's character is kooky and funny with his extra-large egghead, and he makes a good combination with the fearless Roxanne voiced by Tina Fey who both have brilliant delivery of humour that adults get, reminiscent of "Date Night". Jonah Hill keeps his popular "Superbad" role as he delivers the all too familiar geek who struggles with the ladies, while Brad Pitt is decent as Metro Man.

Several scenes were well animated, especially during explosions. If you worry that the 3D effect might give you a headache, don't be. It is recommended to watch it in 3D as the presentation looks real and none distracting. The movie also has some really well-mixed soundtrack featuring AC/DC "Highway to Hell", Jonas Brothers "Out Of This World", James Brown "Get Up Offa That Thing", Elvis Presley "A Little Less Conversation" and The Rolling Stones "Street Fighting Man" among others.

Overall "Megamind" is suitable for children and is also recommended for the adults who just want to have a good laugh - a good choice of entertainment.
