Zamora, Free Land and Men

Venezuela, middle of 19th century. Polarization between Liberals and Conservatives in Venezuela marked the political agenda of the period. The inequalities of colonial society kept farmers and slaves under the oligarchy`s yoke. Ezequiel Zamora, a hero of his time, took it upon himself to fight for the equal rights of peasants and farmers afflicted by the class struggle that was caused by wealthy landowners. The movie, directed by Roman Chalbaud, looks at Venezuela through historical lenses and examines the fight between the lower rung of society in their bid to fight for more equality and a just society.
