Watch this if you liked: “After the Cup: Sons of Sakhnin United”

One would wonder what can Hungary offer to the movie world. This is a 2-hour documentary on one of their favourite sons (if not THE favourite) - Ferenc Puskas; a talented football player was also regarded as the face of Hungary when he was reaching for great heights in the 1950s. It also encompasses the Hungarian Revolution in 1958 which caused some controversies as he was playing for the Hungary Military Army football team when he defected.

The movie speaks of much more than just the personal life of Ferenc Puskas and his football. The editing and transition of the old black-and-white tapes of Puskas was well done and the usage of still photos is well-written into the docu by the director.

Ferenc Puskas is regarded as the darling of the Hungarian national football team that had an undefeated streak broken in the 1954 World Cup Final against West Germany, for which Hungary was predestined to win. The movie talks about many things that made the man, up to the time of his premature death in 2006. You can also catch the great media attention that was generated, particularly the Panathinaikos team which Ferenc Puskas brought to the European Cup final against Ajax Amsterdam in 1971 and also Real Madrid FC where he played out the final years of his footballing career and received a minute of silence to commemorate his passing away.

With many testimonies from ex-colleagues of Ferenc Puskas in Hungary and Spain, plus a sports historian and also football icons like Franz Beckenbauer, Alfredo Di Stefano, Alex Ferguson and Michel Platini, this is a great opportunity to catch up with a football legend that may escape many of today's younger fans. Even Pele gave testimony on how humble and also how great a person he really was! So give this movie a go if you are a true sports fan.
