Brandon Routh ("Superman Returns") stars as Dylan Dog a private investigator that specializes in the affairs of the undead. With his business card that reads "No Pulse? No Problem" and armed with an arsenal of silver and wood-tipped bullets, Dylan`s definitely not your usual investigator. As the latest comic flick to hit the screens, "Dylan Dog: Dead Of Night" got plenty of heat by the Italian media because the movie was reputed to not have paid the appropriate homage to the Italian comic for which it is based upon.

The reviewer feels that the setting and also Dylan Dog's sidekick; played by Sam Huntington doesn't feel right as a film noir horror film as it lacks the bite to bring its story to greater and darker heights.

The movie does some justice to the original Dylan Dog from the comic with the titular role played by Brandon Routh (in his second comic-to-screen role to date), who still uses an analog camera with films in this digital age just how Dylan Dog did in the comics.

The reviewer also feels that Brandon Routh's performance as Dylan Dog the supernatural private investigator is commendable, as Brandon is a fine actor and is able to portray the role that is given to him without any awkward hesitation (except maybe for "Superman Returns").

In "Dylan Dog: Dead of the Night" audiences may find that the thrills are lacking and is compensated instead with cheesy special effects, staged battles and unrealistic looking monsters that look like they were costumes rented from a Halloween shop giving the production a cheap, direct-to-DVD feel.

The plot may be not what the original comic book fan can expect it to be as it does not pay much homage to the source of the story, but the movie's pace and cinematography is decent enough for casual watch.
