Watch this if you liked: “My Best Friend Is A Vampire”

"Vamps" is Amy Heckerling's latest directorial feature that follows the lives of two beautiful female vampires named Goody (Alicia Silverstone) and Stacy (Krysten Ritter) in New York City. Goody is a much older vampire figure compared to Stacy, who was turned into vampire in the 1990s while she has been alive since 1841. The two of them struggle to adapt to the routine of normal humans, relying on the support on each other and the so-called vampire community meeting that brings together vampires from around town. As they get better to being Manhattan citizens, Goody and Stacy fun into the vampire queen Ciccerus (Sigourney Weaver), who wants to kill all the innocent residents in the city.

Heckerling, who was born is New York, pays her tribute to the different eras in America, especially her hometown, through the eyes of Goody in "Vamps". Different from Johnny Depp's portrayal of Barnabas Collins, an 18th century vampire who awakens in the 20th century in "Dark Shadows", Goody never has to sleep for centuries, so she managed to witness all the joyful and painful historical events that happened in the United States. The saddest part was the loss of her children and loved ones in different times. This is the only form of sentimentally in the entire silly story.

Speaking of silliness, the vampire comedy fails to incite laughter in whoever watching it. Do not be surprised that you cannot even put up a smirk on your face watching Goody and Stacy drink mouse blood, clubbing downtown every night, lying in coffins instead of biting human's necks to keep themselves alive.

However, the bit where Stacy meets the parents of Joey, a normal man she falls in love with, will tickle you on to see how a vampire gets all smart-ass with Joey's father, who is a vampire slayer, in the same table.

It is hard to imagine that a star like Sigourney Weaver would appear as a villain in a dull vampire film like "Vamps". It is not funny but degrading for audiences to see a veteran actress like her salivating for Latino men and sucking blood from Chinese workers in a restaurant in Chinatown.

Overall, "Vamps" can be placed in the all-time worst vampire movies list without a doubt. Whether you are watching the movie in cinemas or on DVD is a total waste of time.
