Based on the award-winning musical by Stephen Sondheim and book by James Lapine, the musical intertwines the plots of several Brothers Grimm fairy tales such as "Little Red Riding Hood", "Jack and the Beanstalk", "Rapunzel", and "Cinderella", and follows them to explore the consequences of the characters` wishes and quests. These plots are tied together by an original story involving a baker and his wife and their quest to begin a family, and their interaction with a Witch and her curse on them.

The Good, the Bad and the What's into the Woods

• A wonderful twist on a number of famous fairytales mashed into one which is somewhat dark and highly refreshing.

• Though the film doesn't meet the expectations as compared to the original stage musical, it is still fairly entertaining for a cinematic adaptation.

• Amazing musical performance that dazzles the audience with their wonderful voice talents. We get to hear Johnny Depp sing once again!

Trivia

• In the film, Emily Blunt plays a woman who is unable to have a child in the film. Ironically, she was actually pregnant during the filming.
