Watch this if you liked: "Gudang Kubur", "Nasi Tangas" & "Pengantin Malam"

The Good, the Bad and the Old Woman's Ghost

Director Eyra Rahman returns with her ninth movie, "Badi", which is her third horror movie after "Pengantin Malam" and "Gudang Kubur". Unfortunately, this writer thinks that there is not much in the movie to differentiate it from other movies in the genre.

However, it is interesting that the storyline is presented by the director through the concept of the Mak Young dance. In an effort to stray away from her first two horror movies, she has chosen a more traditional setting for her latest feature.

Adibah Yunus is impressive in her portrayal as Sarah, showing immense improvement in her acting skills. The same, sadly, cannot be said for Azwan Kombos as this writer thinks that his portrayal as Joe is mediocre, at best. Despite having starred in numerous movies, Azwan still has room for improvement.

The commitment by newcomers Hanif Safuan, Sharisa Haris, Navilya Husna and Ayang Abbas also cannot be overlooked. Their acting may seem stiff at times but they have the potential to develop into better actors. Not forgetting Rafidah Jaafar, who also gives her best as Mek Nak.

All in all, if you are a local horror movie aficionado who doesn't mind popcorn movies, "Badi" is the one for you. Classified PG13, this means your whole family can tag along for a movie's day at the cinema.
