The Good, the Bad and the Forgetful Fish :

The memorable fish with a short-term memory returns with a huge splash in the long-awaited sequel filled with laugh-out-loud laughter, exciting adventures, picturesque visuals, and quirky characters.

Despite the film being released 13 years after its predecessor "Finding Nemo", the story in "Finding Dory" takes place only 6 months after the first movie.

In the sequel, Dory continues to suffer from her memory loss, but recently, she has been getting flashbacks of when she was young and that of her parents.

After realising that she was separated from her family when she was but a wee little fish, Dory is now determined to look for them with the help of Marlin and Nemo as they all travel to California to get to the Marine Life Institute, where Dory and her family first got separated.

To be honest, cinemagoers may be divided into two when it comes to this movie as some may feel that the sequel is a tad bit unnecessary considering the success and happy ending of the first film, but then there is the other hald who are curious to know the origins of the forgetful blue tang fish who came out of nowhere in "Finding Nemo".

The film basically follows the flow of the first film, but instead of exploring the wide blue ocean, "Finding Dory" has a lot of scenes that take place on land.

While the film is still a fun and emotional journey with top-notch visuals, it would probably be nicer if it remained underwater longer, as the visual beneath the never-ending ocean along with its colourful inhabitants, is what made "Finding Nemo" memorable and successful in the first place.

Though you won't be able to see the return of the fish tank gang in the sequel, this movie introduces several odd new fish characters with personality traits and dialogues that reflect their animal counterparts.

Since this is an animation, some logic where physics and biology are concerned are thrown off the shelf which makes everything even more hilarious, like the seven-tentacle octopus, Hank, who has the ability of a ninja!

The main highlight of the whole movie is of course Dory herself - voiced by the talented Ellen DeGeneres - whose forgetfulness gets her into all sort of weird and funny situations.

Overall, with the exception of "Toy Story", Pixar has never quite been able to recreate the same amount of wonderment for its sequels compared to the predecessor, and this remains the same for "Finding Dory".

Those who have never watched the first film, may find "Finding Dory" a first-rate, A-class animation with a wonderful story - well, it is, it's just that in comparison, "Finding Nemo" is the better film.

Look Out For:

• The voice cameo of actor Alexander Gould, the original voice actor of Nemo.

Trivia:

• Dory is the most liked character on Facebook from any Disney or Pixar film, with over 25 million likes.
