Watch this if you liked: "Ah Boys To Men"

"Ah Boys To Men 3: Frogmen" follows the boys we've met in the first two movies moving on to the next level of training to become a 'Frogman'. Undergoing trainings at the National Service camp, we see the boys go through tough times inside and outside of the camp.

Just like the first two movies, the transformation of the characters before and after the training in camp is interesting to watch. This time, the boys really turn into men, as they gain more maturity in making the right decisions for themselves.

Apart from bringing back the same characters from the previous movies such as Lobang, Ken, Aloysius and Alex Ong, there are new faces as well. A new main character is introduced in the movie in the form of Hei Long (Wesley Wong), a gangster who was brought up in Hong Kong. His role is basically a big bully in the camp really makes him a good antagonist.

As for the story itself, the script was well written and is relatable. This time around, the writer introduced more on the family and background of Lobang (Wei Liang) a refreshing change of pace, especially where nothing about Lobang's family was shown in the first two movies. A particular memorable scene was when Lobang had to turn in his drug addict mother to the police.

Overall, everything was perfectly done including the plot execution and the utilisation of the CGI effects. The movie definitely gave audiences an eye-opening experience to see what kind of training the Singaporean National Service practises and also how grown up the Ah Boys are since their debut film back in 2012.

Trivia:

The Ah Boys had to attend a stamina training session with some of the trainers which included running a 12km run before shoot.
